Expert evidence and the new challenges arising from ADR regulation were the focus of a conference that aspires to become a benchmark forum for the sector.

Madrid, 1 October 2026.
Criteria Médica has successfully held its 1st Medical-Legal Expert Conference in the healthcare sector, a professional gathering that brought together representatives from the healthcare, legal, insurance and expert witness sectors in Madrid to analyse the growing prominence of expert evidence in dispute resolution and the impact of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms on professional practice.

Titled “The importance of expert evidence with the regulation of MASC”, the event provided a forum for reflection and analysis on the regulatory and jurisprudential changes that are transforming dispute resolution in the healthcare sector.

The keynote address was delivered by magistrate Hon. Lorena Ochoa Vizcaíno, of the Civil Division of the Madrid Court of First Instance, who addressed matters of particular interest relating to the role of expert evidence in the current context, injury stabilization and its influence on limitation and prescription periods, as well as the still limited case law and its implications for procedural strategy.

The high level of participation and the active exchange of views during the subsequent discussion demonstrated the interest these matters generate among professionals involved in the assessment, management and resolution of claims in the healthcare sector.

The institutional opening of the conference was conducted by Ignacio Ripol, Commercial Director of the Group, while the closing was delivered by Dr Rosa Romay, Medical Director of the company, who emphasized the importance of creating forums that foster shared knowledge, professional development and interdisciplinary dialogue among all stakeholders involved.

Criteria Médica has assessed the reception of this first edition very positively, having exceeded attendance and participation expectations, consolidating the need to promote initiatives that contribute to improving understanding of the legal, medical and expert challenges facing the sector.

With this conference, Criteria Médica reaffirms its commitment to technical excellence, specialized training and knowledge dissemination, laying the foundations for future editions that will continue to drive analysis and debate on current issues with direct impact on professional practice.
